All images are printed on museum and archival quality paper with an Epson ink jet printer and these are referred to as an I-print. The pigment inks used for printing have a colorfast life of at least 100 years. On request, an alternate type of print can be made available. This alternate printing process uses a chromogenic chemical and ultraviolet light process to develop a light sensitive archival paper, and these are referred to as C-prints. The paper has been certified to have a colorfast life of 70-140 years. The image is face mounted to acrylic glazing which provides some protection from ultraviolet light, but preventing exposure to direct ultraviolet light may prolong the life of both types of image.
Images are mounted and delivered, ready to hang. The printed image is face mounted on acrylic glazing that seals the print from the environment, and then adhered to a solid aluminum backing. The acrylic glazing is 3/16th" thick and is clear. This acrylic glazing gives the picture an impactful depth and brilliance. Light coming off the print is reflected by the acrylic glass and when properly lit, gives an impression of being backlit, giving the picture greater depth. The aluminum back is supported by an aluminum brace set in a few inches from the edge of the picture. This brace gives strength and support to the aluminum back as well as the means to hang the picture. The high quality float mount hanging system, applied to the back of the finished piece, allows it to hang without a frame and has a clean presentation and modern look. The hanging setup is known as a French cleat system which slots into a wooden rail for mounting on a wall.
Each image will be available in three sizes each with an approximate width of 44, 30 or 24 inches. The height of the image depends on the composition of the subject matter.
The acrylic glazing must be handled carefully as it is not scratch resistant. However a scratch resistant, but not scratch proof, acrylic glazing is available on the market. It is recommended that Brillianize Plastic Cleaner, a cleaning and polishing liquid, be used. The cleaner should only be applied with the microfiber cloth that comes with the cleaner. Use this cleaner only as other glass cleaners will damage the acrylic glazing.
